Before Reproduction
- For all categories
of materials, declare to NAS the usage of material for reproduction
- For restricted materials, seek permission from the source/owner
of the collection
- Orders for reproduction of archival materials
will be processed only when:
¨ Full payment has been made
¨ Permission for reproduction of restricted photographs has been
granted from the relevant organisation/individual.
Archival and Administrative Fees
The total cost for reproduction includes archival and administrative Fees and Reproduction Fees.
Type 1:
Type 1 Archival and Administrative fee at S$50.00 (exclusive of GST) per photograph/slide/record, per usage applies to the use of archival materials for educational or cultural activities, whether for informational or illustrative purposes in publications, newsletters, television programmes and for display.
Type 2:
Type 2 Archival and Administrative fee at S$500.00 (exclusive of GST) per photograph/slide/record, per usage applies to the use of archival materials for product development or commercial use, including in all forms of merchandising, broadcast programme that is not public service type, display in businesses and advertisements.
Usage Notices
Researchers are to take note of some of the following
points concerning usage of reproduction copies of archival materials.
Copyright Declaration Form
- Researchers are
required to fill in a declaration form, stating that he will
assume all responsibility for using reproduction copies of
archival materials. This includes not using the reproduction
copies for purposes other than the specific purpose stated
by the researcher and that they will be used in a respectful
manner.
- NAS reserves the right to take legal action if the
photograph is used for a purpose in excess of what has been
stated by the researcher or used without permission for another
undeclared purpose.
- Researchers are to acknowledge NAS and
the relevant private individual(s) or organisation(s), as
the source for photographs used in the projects they have specified.
Copyright and Donor Imposed Restriction
- Some archival materials may be copyrighted
and restricted by donor agreement.
- Users are responsible for
identifying the copyright owner and obtain all necessary clearance
before making purchases or making commercial, broadcast, or
any other uses of the these materials.
- NAS cannot guarantee
the status of specific items. Any use of these items is made
at the researcher’s or purchaser’s
own risk.

- Users are responsible
for to obtaining all necessary clearances from the relevant
authorities, e.g. Senior Minister’s
Office, Prime Minister’s Office, before making commercial,
broadcast, or other uses of these materials.
- NAS cannot guarantee
the status of specific items. Any use of these items is made
at the researcher’s or purchaser’s
own risk.
