
The National Archives of Singapore (NAS)
is responsible for the collection and management of the nation's
public and private historical records, in various formats,
dating back to the 18th century. |


NAS is one of the institutions under
the purview of the National Heritage Board. The Board is
responsible for preserving, presenting and promoting the
cultural heritage of Singapore, through heritage preservation
programmes and outreach activities. |


ICA is the professional organisation
for the world archival community, dedicated to promoting
the preservation, development, and use of the world's archival
heritage. It brings together national archive administrations,
professional associations of archivists, regional and local
archives and archives of other organisations as well as individual
archivists, from more than 180 countries and territories. |


Southeast Asian Regional Branch International Council
on Archives
NAS is a member of SARBICA which operates
under the Constitution of the Southeast Asian Regional Branch
of the International Council on Archives, established during
the Inaugural Conference of SARBICA in Kuala Lumpur on 9
July 1968. It had the distinction to be the first regional
branch of ICA and is responsible for carrying out the policy
and programmes of ICA in this region. At present, SARBICA
comprises the National Archives Institutions of Brunei Darussalam,
Indonesia, Malaysia, The Philippines, Singapore, Myanmar,
Thailand and Vietnam. |


UN Archive Portal
The UNESCO Archives Portal gives access to
websites of archival institutions around the world. It is also a
a gateway to resources related to records and archives management
and to international co-operation in this area. |


The International Research on Permanent
Authentic Records in Electronic Systems (InterPARES)
NAS is an active member of the InterPARES
II project where scholars, archivists, artists, scientists,
industry specialists and government representatives from
around the world work together to undertake the challenges
presented by the manipulability of digital systems, technological
obsolescence and media fragility, in order to guarantee that
society’s digitally recorded memory will be accessible
for future generations. |
