Know Sars, No Sars

When the mysterious Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) hit Singapore in 2003, government agencies had to give out information on this life-threatening disease to the public quickly and effectively. Agencies such as the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Community Development and Sports resorted to comic strips in posters to raise public awareness.

Thanks to these comics, knowledge about SARS, the preventive measures to take and modes of contact tracing to use became more generally known, helping to allay fears and anxiety.

These bright posters, many of which are also available in Malay, Mandarin and Tamil, can be seen in our collection.
