A major role of the National Archives of Singapore (NAS), an institution under the National Heritage Board, is to facilitate selective preservation of administratively and historically important government records, as well as their timely release for the public to see and use.

To ensure that records are more easily accessible, we have developed the Government Records Information Database or GRID. This site offers insights into the forces and factors that shaped the policies of post-war Singapore. With records from former government departments and institutions such as the Ministry of Culture (now Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts) and Singapore Improvement Trust (now Housing and Development Board), these non-current/public archives are a must for a deeper understanding of Singapore history.
